This was our second release and we were really proud of it, but both bands broke up soon after. I don't even think there was a release show. Both sides were recorded with Ryan at Arcane. The whole packaging came out great, we ripped off the idea from the old Scathe 7" but instead of cutting off the tops of the manila envelope we just sealed it, which I bet pissed some people off but that was kinda the point. Fake Out was mostly a side project for Sam from Alarm but we used to play a lot, mostly at The Gnarwhal House. I (Chris) was also the bass player if you couldn't figure that out. Female Snake used to play a lot of shows with us so we asked them to do this. Some of them I guess are in Sex Prisoner now, they just released a brutal record on To Live A Lie Records, check it out.
Maximum RockNRoll #308
From the silk-screen manila sleeve, the last thing I expected from this record was fast hardcore, but that's exactly what you get, and not some '90s-wannabe-EVERGREEN record or something. FAKE OUT, from Tucson, drops five tracks of fairly by-the-books fast thrashin' hardcore with crucial breakdown parts. This band woulda fit just fine on bills with TEAR IT UP, NO JUSTICE, SCHOLASTIC DETH, and other bands of that ilk/time in history. On the other side of this platter, FEMALE SNAKE, also hailing from Tucson, is more on the blast-beat to dirge-y hardcore tip. A nice window into a local scene that dosen't get too much coverage, from a label that is doing just that - showcasing their scene. (Justin Briggs)
